Calendar of Wooden Boats®
Most Photogenic Boat Award
The Calendar of Wooden Boats® Most Photogenic Boat Award was established in 2006 in celebration of the calendar's 25th anniversary. It was awarded at that year's Eggemoggin Reach Regatta (ERR), in Brooklin, Maine, and continues to be awarded each year.
Marine photographer Benjamin Mendlowitz, publisher of the Calendar of Wooden Boats®, and marine historian Maynard Bray, who has provided the text for the Calendar since its inception, select the winning boat. Their objective is to recognize one boat, regardless of its racing record, that stands out as an ideal example of the aesthetics, design, fine craftsmanship and commitment to maintenance that are the hallmarks of an exceptional wooden boat.
The award, which is presented at the ERR end-of-race dinner, consists of an 11" x 14" Benjamin Mendlowitz photographic print of the winning boat, matted and signed, along with a signed and numbered Deluxe Edition of the Book of Wooden Boats, Volume II.
The ERR was established in 1985 by Steve White and Frank Hull, of Brooklin Boat Yard, and is now organized by both Brooklin Boat Yard and Rockport Marine. It attracts many of the finest and most beautifully maintained wooden sailboats afloat today.
